Troubleshoot your air conditioning

What to do before calling an HVAC repair company. 

IF YOU SMELL ANYTHING BURNING SHUT IT OFF IMMEDIATELY!

CHECK BATTERIES IN THERMOSTAT

Most Air Conditioning and Heating problems derive from weak, dead, or corroded batteries. Check to make sure your batteries are good before calling in for professional help.

CHECK YOUR BREAKERS

A tripped breaker is a leading cause of failure as well, Check to make sure your breakers are not tripped. (If your breaker is the problem and it continues to happen shut the unit off and call to avoid unrepairable damages.)

CHANGE YOUR AIR FILTER

A dirty filter will cause air restriction and in extreme conditions stop the system from working altogether. Make sure to change your air filter regularly.

IF UNIT IS NOT COOLING AFTER CHECKING ABOVE SHUT OFF AND CALL.

Most small problems lead to a major problem as a result of letting the unit run even though it is not cooling or heating. If you have checked over everything and the unit is still not working, shut everything off and call for professional help.
